  • How many would consider buying an I-Pad if it could do THIS with Sonar X1?

I don't want to get in trouble for posting this here, because I only would love to have an I-Pad app like this. And I don't even own an I-Pad. But I would if Sonar had something like this for X1, heck I'd even pay for the app as long as it worked really well:

And this even supports Sonar and is out now for the I-Pad:

So my main question would be:

Are the Cakewalk People thinking about this, and what is the possibility that X1 or even X2, would have a Custom I-Pad app.

And if, I, buy an, I-Pad, doesn't that make it an I-PaId?

I getting dizzy...

Anyway, who would buy an I-Pad if X1 had a cool app for it?

Would you pay for an X1 app or would you expect it to be part of the Producer package? I would think you would get it with that at least.

I think it's worth pointing out that this app basically drives their hardware mixer and AFACT doesn't have much, if any, functionality related to the DAW per-se.

Brandon,

Not to get personal with you or any Cake employees, but could you guesstimate the ratio of all Cake employess who own an I-Pad to those who don't?

I would really love to know the answer to that. I am still considering buying one.

Are you talking about the Presonus one?

Yeah sorry - I should have been more thorough. There are definitely some cool apps out there that would work with SONAR (or other DAWs). I was speaking specifically of the Presonus one, but the second one is a perfect example of where hardware controllers are starting to get virtualized in "apps" - which I think is a really cool development.

Still, Brandon, it would be very handy (pun intended).  But make it for android - I just picked up a 10 incher, with USB.

Hmmm...I really don't know especially as I don'twork in the home office in Boston. I do know that some employees at Cakewalk do certianly own them. There are a few floating around in Sales and Marketing for sure.

I'm personally more interested in the upcoming Android 3 tablets (Motorola etc), but can absolutely see the appeal of iPads (and tablets in general - the iPad being a more mature one) especially when you start seeing these kinds of apps.

I saw Eric Persing demo the iPad controller for Omnisphere at NAMM and it was WAY cool. Really great use for devices of this kind.

Can you post a link or model number on that?

I really wouldn't care which device it's for. Most likely if there ever were such an app by Cakewalk for X1, it would be device independant I would think.

Just the thought of it with the new X1 features would be really cool.
