I am unable to install the Dimension Pro 1.5 download from the Sonar 8.5 Producer upgrade to Sonar X2.  I get an error box that says "The installer has detected that a previous version of Dimension Pro is currently installed.  Please download the 1.5 update from www.cakewalk.com"

I installed the required update but still get the same error message.  A look in control panel reveals that Dimension Pro 1.2 is installed on my computer, but I still get the same error message when I try to run Dimension Pro 1.5.

Also, I'm not sure the Rapture part of the download is there, can't see it in the computer files and a run of one of the video tutorials says it is not there.

I guess I can call customer support tomorrow, but anyone have an idea what I should do?

Thanks

If you patch DimPro v1.2 using the 1.5 patch available at the support page http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013166 you can safely skip the X2 DimPro install. The same is true with Rapture. If you have Rapture and patch it current via the Rapture support page, you would be better off skipping that part of the X2 install. There are no differences between current patched versions of DimPro and Rapture and the versions shipping with X2.

If want to install the versions that ship with X2, before performing the uninstall and registry cleanup, you might want to save copies of the program and multisample directories. You might find it easier to get back the extra stuff from your older versions by reintegrating the program and multisample directories.

Thanks,

OK, so the 1.5 Dimension Pro can be skipped, and the Rapture portion as well by using the patch in Rapture support page?  I think I may have done that with Dimension Pro, so I'll try to do the same thing with Rapture.
But, I still show Dimension Pro 1.2 is installed in control panel rather than 1.5, so you must be saying they are the same I guess.  And also that Rapture which ships with X2 is the same also?

Is that right?

OK!

Now I see Rapture 1.2.2 is installed.  But I still have Dimension Pro 1.2 instead of 1.5.

I guess I should get the X2 upgrade to to X2a now as well.

Yes, if you patch DimPro and Rapture current, skip the X2 install for those plug-ins. If you really did apply the 1.5 patch and DimPro still shows 1.2 could it be that your are running the 32bit version of SONAR and still loading the DXi version which is frozen at v1.2? The DimPro version that is v1.5 is the VST version.

Yes, I am running the 32 bit version as I was afraid to change to 64 not knowing if I would have issues.  So, looking at my CPU and sound card specs, should I go to 64 bit.

And if I should, what is the best way accomplish this?

Awesome replies by the way, thanks again.

Let's get the 32bit version running for now. You would need more RAM to really benefit from 64bit SONAR. About DimPro, are you loading the DXi or VST version? Load the VST version of DimPro and check the about screen. Alternately you can look in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Cakewalk\Vstplugins\Dimension Pro" and right-click on the "Dimension Pro.dll", open the properties page and make sure the product version on the Details tab is 1.5.0.

Dimension Pro is listed as a DXi instrument in Plug In Manager of X2 and as a VSTi instrument as well.  I see that I can can change the audio format in Utilities / Change audio format - to 64 bit.

Is this the best way to change it all to 64 bit.   And if I do that can I then try to re-install Dimension Pro via the patch?

One more thing about X2, Rapture is part of the main install process. To skip the Rapture install, perform an X2 advanced install and deselect Rapture.

Sorry, posted before reading your reply.  OK, checking the version as you
