Hello! It is only a few days ago, suddenly a problem occured. When using a midi controller (breath controller), there was - after a certain time - a humming in the track of the used softsynth. It sounds like a long sustained sound of the synth which does not stop. Sometimes, the humming occurs not only in the used track, also other tracks are "activated to hum". It is like a humming orchestra, nerve-racking (if I do not "mute" the tracks concerned). Sometimes, some humming stops, if I give midi-inputs in the softsynth-tracks concerned. I deleted some synths (for exemple Reaktor) and started them anew (without success). With the breath-midi-signals, everything is okay. I tried the midi-ox-midi-monitor. One other thing: If I change a softsynth-track and give midi-input, you sometimes (not always) hear several softsynths very loud (only at the first midi-signal). In the case that happens, several softsynth-tracks are humming furthermore. Really weird. If I use the audio-output of a keyboard (for exemple), there is no problem. It is a problem with the midi tracks (or the EWI-midi-function), I guess. Do you know, if it is a problem of the softsynths (Kontakt, Absynth, Reaktor, Swam Engine Mr. Sax, ...) or a problem of Sonar X1 (64bit, Win7)? I think, I did not change anything important in my Sonar-system within month (and it worked without problem). I should add, that the softsynth (which hums) does (often) not respond properly to the midi-signals of the EWI any more. Some of the notes are hanging, some are lost, some are played wrong.

From what you've said, it sounds like you are getting spurious or wrong/mis-handled MIDI signals.  What did you see on MIDI-Ox?  If you are not playing are there controller messages being sent?  Have you checked all your connections, especially to your MIDI interface?  What MIDI interface do you use?  Do you have a cable checker and have you checked your MIDI cables.  I was having trouble a while back and bought a cheap cable checker by Behringer and found my problems were caused by several bad MIDI cables.  

You may need to adjust your controller. They need constant looking after. Remember MIDI needs both a note on and a note off message. If the controller is not set right it may not give a note off message. I have a WX5 wind controller and I have to set it up almost every time I use it. 

One more thing they are subject to the same environmental things that a sax or other reed instrument is. Wait till it has wormed up with some playing before you fiddle with it. 

I’m not familiar with the EWI but on the WX5 the “normal hold” setting does not send “note off”. So if your soft synth is not setup to read “breath controller data” the note will be held.  Also I have accidentally engaged the “follow hold” many times on the WX5 and spent considerable time trying to track down the issue.

Now, I did - nevertheless - a calibration of the breath sensor and the touch sensor, but the problem still exists. I controlled the midi signals being sent by the EWI. There is no signal, if the breath controller is not touched. Breath signals start and stop with Note off. Everything is fine. But if there is the slightest touch, the EWI sends a Pitch bend signal. Could that be the problem? Or anything with Sonar X1?

Simply stop the audio engine. That forces a reset of the synths that are "hung" and silences them. 

As soon as you press the play again the audio engine automatically restarts. 

The STOP AUDIO ENGINE button is on the transport control area if I recall correctly, find it on your DAW's toolbar so you know where it's at..... I think mine is light blue when the engine is running...... it's not very big and easy to miss or not even know what it is when you're looking at it.

"held notes will happen from time to time." But it did not happen for a year; and now it happens every ten minutes... :-(
