I find the Arpeggiator in my 6XL useful sometimes in creating an interesting base line, and producing some interesting drum patterns for example.

I wonder if there are any (hopefully freeware) similar midi plugins that simply can make your tracks a wee bit more interesting?

NTONYX Style Enhancer Micro http://www.ntonyx.com/sem20.htm is an interesting product. It used to be included with SONAR. It has a fully functional demo. Even if you do not purchase the product, the demo version is not bad.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. I like using some of the Audio FX too, like Echo/Delay on my bass lines. So, not just midi effects...
