The really sad thing is that if somebody could figure out to place ads on EASs they would.  Even sadder, those ads would generate sales.
 

Without a laptop, my room mate's cat would have no place to sleep.

 
 
My advice is to try to get a laptop that you can easily carry with out dropping it and have it shatter into 1000 pieces within the first hour of using it  because they might not refund that. 
 
So be careful and make sure you can get a good grip on that sucker and you will be fine.

Craig ... I gave up opinions a long time ago!
 
I only use a laptop to "augment" the work I do, and that means, when I go to the lake for the weekend, I take the laptop and I can do some typing and writing ... not much else, and it's all I would want to do, over there, since there is no Internet connection at this time (don't really need it!) ... and it gives me an excuse to work the novels and other stuff a bit more.
 
Other than that, if I had the moolah for it, I probably would get me a big time laptop and walk all over with it? Nahhhh ... not my style!

Well, I just got the good news!  My new employer HAS ordered a new laptop for me!  
 
Eventually I would like to get something for myself so I've kept notes from the responses.  Thanks to all who contributed! 

Feel free to continue sharing your opinions (or the fact that you don't have one), but the above pretty much describes where I am at the moment (er, waiting for the new laptop to arrive that is!).
