@ Paul P
Why own both? Well, I record everything on Sonar X2A, but I master and burn CD's using studio one 2.5. (and yes I do also own Cake's audio creator)
What can I say except that for taking finshed mixes, tweaking them, assembling them, and burning them to CD, Studio one just works very well for me. I have owned the S1 professional version for quite some time but have never even used the typical DAW recording/mixing features. I just love Sonar producer for that part of music creation.
However I will admit that S1 is the ugliest looking "current" software titles that I use. Everything is just so darn blue-grey and uninspiring......

I have both S1 and X2 here...reason?

Because I just like them. Simple.

I was hoping we could all just have a good collective laugh over the troll (and we did :)), not really start a S1 vs. X2 daw war contest between sane and rational and mature users.    But someone always has to rationalize their preferences and start the "can do" thing.

Sonar X2 is a splendid product, so is Studio One.  One is 15 years into development and the other is less than 4 years into development.  Use what you prefer and be happy, no need to rationalize your preferences with irrational comparisons.

As to instrument definitions,  Studio One users have coded free third party add-ons for instrument definitions because they wanted to temporarily fill that gap while development continues.   This is the definition of an engaged community.  One uses Cubase patch scripts directly, the other uses Sonar instrument definitions directly.  The former loads as a embedded tool on the main toolbar, the latter runs as stand alone app supplement.  This goes to show that when people need to justify their own choices by daw war comparisons, they very often don't have enough accurate information to make a valid comparsion.

We - the sane and rational and mature who fully appreciate the value of these complex products  - shouldn't be at war with each other over software choices.   That's for trolls and immature people.

Long live Sonar and S1.   Down with daw trolls.

You've got to admit that your (this) thread was quite a bit of a troll as well :-)

Not my intent.  My intent was to make it clear that all of that guy's rants actually had nothing at all to do with Sonar ...  and to have a good collective laugh about it all.    Because people who do that should be identified so when he shows up somewhere else doing the same thing they can cross reference the angry trolling and put boot to anus, rather than spend time trying to help someone who doesn't actually even really want help.

But it's the net and people will debate or argue just about anything so, granted, maybe not the best idea.
Thanks Paul.    And so ends my first and last foray into the X2 forum.  Best regards to you all.

The folks at CW must really be busy with something...almost 24 hours and this thread hasn't been moved to the CH, would seem to suggest there are no moderators present.

You say that like the coffee house is a bad thing.

Some of the most interesting, profound yet thought provoking writtings I have ever read in my 42 years of existence were born in the coffee house.

"Some of the most interesting, profound yet thought provoking writtings I have ever read in my 42 years of existence were born in the coffee house. " sounds biblical, new new testament

A quick scan of the current thread titles does not suggest inspiration of biblical depth :-)
