  • Which KB Shortcut Selects a Portion of an Audio File?

Hello All--

I'm still watching the instructional video on X2 as it is a large upgrade for me from 8.3. I noticed in track view the Alt key is no longer the shortcut to select a portion of an audio file for editing--say, I want to boost the gain on one section of an audio file. In Sonar 8, I hold the Alt key while selecting the portion of the audio file and then I can edit just that section without having the split the file or use v-vocal.

I've been searching around online and I can't find the keyboard shortcut list for editing in track view. I see step edit and v-vocal shortcuts, but no audio editing. Can anyone tell me which shortcut key I would now use to select just a portion of an audio file?

Also, if you know where a list of the audio editing KB shortcuts is, that would be even better (teach me how to fish).

As always...

Here is a link from Cakewalk with some of the shortcuts:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/...9/quickstartguides.zip

This will give you some of them.  It is a compressed folder with the same guide in a few languages.

And here is the X2 help documentation on them:

http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation/default.aspx?Doc=SONAR%20X2&Lang=EN&Req=Templates_KeyBindings.4.html

If you scroll down a little you will see a link for the complete list of them.

Someone was kind enough to put some time and effort into formatting a complete list of them in PDF format.

You can still download this from the following link:

The above seems to have every single shortcut for X2.

In X2, you no longer need to hold the Alt key. Just click/drag inside the clip to select any portion of it. To select the entire clip, click the clip header at the top of the clip.

Awesome. Both the compiled shortcut list and not needing the Alt key to select.

That's quite a list. Looks like I've got a bit of studying to do!
