Your pal should get into this more, he's good.
Takes you straight back to circa 1966.
Nice job.

thanks wildman...
i guess the '66 callout is kinda similar to some of the older folk songs, arrangement wise....

studio wise, not so much... they used a lot of PLATE back then,
and i don't have any of that on this....

i used a regular room reverb, in conjunction with a slap back echo

plus, 3 rhythm acoustic guitars playing the same part blended together,
that's not so '60's.......

I like the song and the arrangement.  The mix sounds good. It is smooth, no top or bottom heavy, just relaxed. Good job. Needs some drums.

So many options....it's a nice problem to have, no?

Love Aimee's stuff and you guys did it justice.

Regards,
Dan

thanks dan!
yeah, A mann writes some cool stuff..
some only know here from the first stuff (voices carry era) and some have never even heard that stuff!

i guess i favor her more 'folk' stuff, with a modern edge....

I love this gonzo - you guys are really good together - great playing - very nice vocals.

thank you mark,
i'll let my friend know about your comment, he'll be pleased,
he's really not a regular musician type,
came to it later in life,
i think this was his first chance to see how a recording gets put together...
he was a little shocked at how quick/easy it was,
but honestly,
you sit down, and capture a performance, it doesn't take much longer than the time to set the mics up, get levels, and hit the red button!
granted, i COULD do a lot more with this....
i'm on the fence as to whether or not to let it go,
or experiment on it.

i could add drums, percussion, back up vox,
i could put some spacey synth pads on it, ala Floyd,
i could do an aggressive echo'd out guitar solo....

or i could pare it down to one voice, one guitar.

maybe i'll try all the above!
LOL

thanks rimshot,
for checking this one out and commenting.....

i've got a new mix of this i'm working on....
kept this one....
but thought i'd try a brighter mix, less verb, more mids in the guitars,
just a more modern sound.

even tho i like the smooth sound, it's easier to listen to...

definitely worth pursuing IMO - has a great folksy/REM vibe - some straight ahead drums would be great on it

thanks for listening daryl.....

i don't think we'll be adding any drums on it,
it works as is......
but you're right,
a straight drum part would totally work....

i've even thought of deconstructing it a bit, and adding spacey drums and synth like a Floyd tune,
something like "Dogs"......
if i DO experiment with it, that's probably the direction i'll take it,
cuz my buddy's a big floyd fan,
it would freak him right the PHUCK out to hear it like that....
LOL

yep.

i'm gonna re-track some electric,
maybe add a percussion track...
and maybe some high harmonies on the chorus.....

The song drew me in further it progressed, sign of a good song.
Kind of a mix between 60's and 2000's feel to the mix. I liked it a lot, well done.
I'm with Rimshot and Daryl, have you tried it with drums?
