This is a song I wrote for my girlfriend.  She's going through a messy divorce after being married to her husband over 40 years.  He decided to dump her.  No biggie.  His loss is my gain.  The song deals with the pain she endured through her long marriage with him mentally and emotionally abusing her.  He did not physically abuse her but emotional and mental abuse can be just as devastating.
Early last year I lost my wife (the young woman with me in my avatar pic) of 34 years to cancer.  I was devastated too.  I joined a dating site last spring for "over 50" people and after conversing for 7 months over the site and emails I met this new woman last summer.  The first verse of the song is about her life with her estranged husband.  After the instrumental bridge, the second verse is about the new love she and I are working on.  Proof that one can fall in love again in the autumn of life after years of such emptiness.

I know my singing is nowhere near professional.  Fact is I gave up the dream of "going pro" years ago.  I do this for fun.  If you like my music (including how I sing and play it), fine. If not, fine too.  I'm not going to apologize for it and not going to try to improve it.  Like it or not, this is me.  Done in Sonar X3 Studio with Toontrack EZ Keys and Native Instrument Session Strings
Thanks!

Wookiee
As it is a known fact that Wookiee singing kills at a parsec I am not one to comment on vocals, however I will ask what processing have you done to the vocal.

The composition sounds OK here, thanks for sharing.

Thanks.  Vocals were recorded using a Pod Studio UX2 interface (Line 6).  I cut some high end and midrange EQ.  Just a bit of Dasample Glaceverb (free plug in).  I know there are some good reverbs that come with Sonar X3 (Blue Tube) but for some unknown reason I'm stuck on Glaceverb.

Glaceverb rocks! I can't get rid of it either, and I an using it on my current project as well.
My story is not all that different from yours. I lost my first wife to an insidious disease. I stole my second from a somewhat abusive environment. We have been married 18 years.
As artists, we are blessed with the ability to express ourselves. Don't sweat the quality. Technology can fix that.
Sincerity matters, and there is plenty of that here.
Life is indeed full, and sometimes the challenges seem like they will break you. You can get past them.
Enjoy every sunrise. Live the new day.
Godspeed my friend.

John,

I like your music.   Well played and mixed.    I would love to hear Eric Carmen or David Gates sing this one.   Reminds me of their style of songwriting.

Regards
