After nursing my Windows XP PC along for 14 years, I finally got a new computer (Windows 10). Then, of course, I had to get a new audio interface (no more PCI slots). Then I gave in to the SONAR Platinum for life pitch (was still using 8.0). Wow, have things changed! Lots to learn.

So far everything has been running great right out of the box. And I was able to get my trusty Tranzport working this morning. Now, if all this new stuff would just help me write some new music. . .

Ha, same here last November! Went from XP to W10, Sonar 8 to Professional (never even saw the X series), and an ancient M-Audio soundcard to a Focusrite 2i4. Bit of a learning curve, isn't it?

Apart from an early glitch with W10 on the new machine which required a fresh install, all has been well since then.

Back on topic...  As I posted around 3am today, I just finished getting my gear up to Windows 10 as well.  Being in an alternative energy startup from 2009-2014, I had to upgrade from XP to 7 back then, but I know there are still some customers for the job I just got that are still on XP (and upgrading to 7 first).

Yeah, I had a Delta 1010LT on XP. Now using a Scarlet 6i6 second generation, which seems to be working well so far. Fortunately, the new PC came with Windows 10 so I didn't have to worry about the upgrade process. It was just a matter of digging through the Windows configuration screens to turn off all the crap I didn't want.

As far as SONAR goes, a lot of the things I used to use are still in there somewhere, but I can't always find them right away. I'm reworking an old project now just to get comfortable again.

So what's the quietest Win10 PC now? All-In-Ones? Standard DTs? Mini DTs?

My Win7 HP Envy laptop is the noisiest PC I've ever used.

And when are they gonna let us use our mobile device (iphone, ipad, tab, etc.) as a wifi touchscreen PC monitor?

Does the operating system have any bearing on noise?
