Hey all.. I'm back at work in studio and for the life of me.. I'm pulling a brain fart.. or at least THINK I am... I'm using Guitar Rig 5 for laying down some scratch tracks and riffs while I "sequence" out the song and drum parts... When I actually place my guitar track in RECORD mode (with INPUT ECHO ON).. I have hear myself play IF I am on the track itself (not with another track selected). I can record and anything just fine listening to myself whether with transport stopped or recording. However, if I hit play and NOT record.. my guitar (live monitoring) is muted out so I really can't hear what I'm playing with the drum backing track.. I basically have to "RECORD" to hear myself play along with the drum track. Interface is a Focusrite Pro 40 (my monitor sends are via the "DAW" in the MixControl.. so I should hear everything)... Guitar Rig 5. Sonar X2. Is there a setting or something simple I forgot the do? I could have sworn in the past I could still hear what I was playing thru Guitar Rig even if I wasn't recording.. and just playing back the track. Thanks

perhaps you have input monitoring disabled during playback? in X2 Edit> Preferences>Playback and Recording> (uncheck) disable input monitoring during playback.. Hope this helps.. =)

In addition to checking the above in preferences, if you happen to be on a different track while playing back, make sure you have the input echo ON for the guitar track.

Well I want to let you know that you fixed my problem.
After going Windows 8, Sonar X2, and a new interface (US 1800) i wasn't sure where to look.
Sure am thankful for this forum. I just kept looking and my problem is solved.

Thank you!

Thanks a million everyone... EPIC AND AWESOME. The option for "disable INPUT MONITORING during playback" was CHECKED. That did it!! Thanks a million!! Back to work!
