Hello All. Yesterday I was using some Waves plugins (and others), but today, when i tried to open these projects, I got an error saying that i ahve no licenses for any in the Waves Shell. Rescanned vst folders in Sonar X1, restarted, got same error. Went to the Waves Cloud and saw the licenses on my computer. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Thanks for the link scook. Certainly was familiar. After reading how bitflipper solved the problem going to the license center, I went to do the same thing. Saw the licenses, but could not select them. Happened to disconnect something i had charging in a usb port on the computer, and viola! i was able to select them. But, before i did anything, I went to Sonar and rescanned. Everything works normally now. Apparently, putting a device in that usb port made the Waves Shell get buggy and not scan in Sonar. Thanks again. Rock-on!

You can recover them using the license manager application, which you'll probably have to re-download. A real PIA. You might want to jot down the procedure, because it's quite likely you'll have to jump through those hoops again down the road. It's happened to me 3 times in the past year.

Disable your network and you'll get the same problem. Replace your motherboard, ditto. The locally-stored license is obviously tied to your hardware.

I dread the day I finally replace this aged computer, not knowing which plugins will refuse to run or which vendors are no longer in business or will claim they have no record of my purchase. I went through that the last time I upgraded my computer, in particular with IKM. Amplitube flat refused to re-authorize, so I just never used it again.

I hate copy protection. Nowadays, it's one of the first features I check out before considering any purchase.

Copy protection is a real problem for users... none of the systems are perfect!

To be fair, I've only run into one vendor that could not help me out (and I share in the blame, since I did not make copies of the electronic receipts), and to be completely fair, the folks at Korg did make an effort to locate my records - they found some, but not all of them.

I also had one vendor who can't help me out because they are no longer in business. Two if you count GigaStudio, but I have abandoned that platform... and since I'm thinking about it - if anyone ever discovered a way to authorize the Wizzo reverb plugins I'd love to hear about it!

Not too bad I guess. In every other case. and when I rebuilt my DAW a couple years ago I did run into a lot more CP problems than I anticipated, the developers were all quite happy to get me up and running again.

It still makes one nervous though!

I too dislike copy protection, but I am willing to concede that if it makes the developers (or their investors) feel a little better I will put up with it for access to some of my favorite tools.
