After changing from xp 32 bit to a new computer with Win 7 & 64 bit, I can't open any old files i had created in Guitar Tracks. I used to be able to open them into Sonar in xp. Does it matter if it's now 64 bit? The audio folder is there & filled with wave files, I navigate through the file tree as best I understand it, & it replaces them with silence. This is crazy & I am loosing 20 years of work. any suggestions? thanks!!

If you have the project files and the audio files in the exact same folders as they were in XP, it should work, but if you moved them or they got moved for you, then you have to tell Sonar where to find them. If you load the project file and it can't find the audio files, then it should ask you where they are or if you want it to find them for you. It takes time, but that's because the files got moved somehow. If you saved all of the CWP files AND the corresponding WAV files (because CWPs only contain the MIDI tracks, settings and pointers to the WAV files, not the WAV files themselves) there should be no problem, but if you only backed up and restored the CWPs and not the WAV files, then you have to restore them also.

Thank you so much!!!!! I was about to give up on 10 yrs worth of projects. It wasn't in the exact same place as the old computer, but I was navigating to where they were on the new one but that wasn't working. after a few trials it seems OK now. :)

Great! Use Per Project folders to keep your projects and audio files together.
