Every program from photo programs to home make and interior design programs will always have some bugs in them at all times while there being updated to new versions.

You'll never get a program that is 100% bug free and that accommodates everyone's needs.

CJ

My underwear is bug free.

Wait .... My underwear really isn't a "software program" per say

Underwear: The True Crapware.........ROTFLMAO!!

I hope you are good at picking stocks. You seem able to predict what Cakewalk is going to do.

First off, Cakewalk isn't Cakewalk anymore, it's Roland. A huge multinational company (like Yamaha acquiring Steinberg )that has acquired and now controls the future of Sonar. Secondly, the influential forum members that had an active part in bringing the concerns of the user base to each new product release are now gone or bumped upstairs.

The concerns of Roland are vastly different than the concerns of a small Boston based company that cares only for its own best interest. Cakewalk is but a tiny part of the huge umbrella that is now Roland. And like any huge corporation, the overall bottom line is the big picture here, not the incremental improvement of one of their investment arms.

It dosn't make financial sense to put anymore more money into X2 unless there is a huge recall of the product due to some kind of defect...(i.e. Car Company Air Bag defect, ect ) not bugs. Its why Microsoft chose not to release another Service Pack for Win7 and instead put all the money into Win8. New Product Line=More Return on investment.

I'm afraid the days of a responsive, forum friendly company are long over now and the days of more 'Avid' like behavior are on the horizon. This is also why companies like Presonus are creating such a huge ground swell about their products and hardware. They are still that responsive, user based oriented company that Twelve Tone ( Cakewalk ) started out to be. It may be unfortunate, but its the future.

I would lay good money on there being an X2b before X3

Sounds like you KNOW there won't be anymore updates to X2. Where did you obtain that information from? (just want to fact-check it)

Sonar is advertised almost always on the backside of the front cover of recording magazines here in JP and Roland tech support on Sonar here is superb. So I want to believe they care about their flagship software.

BTW, I wouldn't cite PreSonus as a responsive company. Do you know they didn't even let their users login and send inquiry through their online tech support page successfully for a long time even though many had reported the issue? And do you know they don't always respond to the tickets submitted (if submitted successfully)? I've heard their support is getting better now, I hope it's true (Cakewalk U.S. always responds, from my experience). Also, they don't show up on their forum very often, not like IK Multimedia, Fxpansion, etc. that appear frequently on KVR forum.

Like in the gaming world, you have to fix a certain number of bugs through patches or you'll lose customers for the next version/game.

If you're going to release buggy software, you'd better follow it up with patches reasonably quickly and not make people pay for fixes.

I'd be pretty disappointed if X3 came out before another patch or three.

Sony and Adobe's audio, video and graphics programs have frequent updates and I find those programs to be much more stable despite complexity that equals if not exceeds that of Sonar.
