On the con's side , When I take a spin on the fretboard , it doesn't take too long for me to hit some Pretty Embarrassing Clams

See, I'm just the opposite.  Every once in a while I'll hit the right note in just the right way.
(Then wonder like crazy how the heck I did it!  )

Craig , that may due to all the Martial Arts training you've had in your lifetime .
The Master will always teach the student that if they see a half empty glass
The Glass is always Half Full

Kenny,

I need to have a new bridge put into an old Hondo strat  (don't ask, I just like it).  Where in Portland should I take something like that so that I don't get screwed over,

Kenny should have more recent experience, but I've had good luck with the 12th Fret on Belmont.

Cool looking instrument. But it leaves me with a question, and that is : If you consider the gauges of the strings being used, shouldn't it be called an 8 string Bass/Guitar Combo rather than just a Guitar?

I could see this type of instrument being awesome since it's electric for a band with two guitar players who just happen to like playing bass also, or Visa Versa that is, lots of possibilities.

Serious_Noize! , I get what you are saying

Depending on who's playing it, it can be considered an 8 string Bass/Guitar Combo ...

Thanks Bill ,

She is a nice little guitar for a starter 8 string .
I get what you are saying about the 6 string guitar . It is certainly deep enough as it is for even the best of us .
It can take a person a whole lifetime of practice and devotion just to even get a good squeak going on while the fingers are dancing away on a tight rope consisting of 6 Slinky nickle plated wires ...
IMHO, Anything more than 6 strings is just like joining the circus .
That's why I'm going there . My life is way too freaking boring  I need some adventure , even if I crash and burn.

Check out George Van Eps on the 7 string playing Yesterday solo

Or George Van Eps on 7 string playing a Duet w Howard Alden

Someday I Wish

all the best,

That's like a perfect audio resume to send to prospective bands that says "What do you need, lead guitar, rhythm guitar or bass?  I can do all of those for all of these styles!"  Plus he made it sound musical and not like some guitar wanking exercise like too many do.

In the comments for the above video I saw the name "Tosin Abasi" and did a quick search for him.  DON'T DO IT KENNY!
