  • (For me) Platinum's longevity is tied to this Forum

Let's face it.  If Windows 10 updates haven't broken Sonar 8.5 it is probably not going to break Platinum.  IMO.  However, while viewing YouTube videos of Studio One and Reaper, it occurred to me how dependent I am on this forum.  When I Google an issue/problem with Sonar, the top hits are all Cakewalk forum posts.  Or, if I post a question, I usually get an answer.  The Forum is key to me.  It is great for vetting mixes of my songs but I can find another forum for that.  I still don't know how to use a Patch Point as it is not an issue right now.

Basically, I think I'm going to have questions for a long time and need to have a Forum that is still online with people that have used or are still using SPLAT.   Not to mention a Forum that has huge backlog that contains thousands of pages of questions and answers.   We're not going to get that by creating a new Cakewalk Forum.  If this forum goes away and/or other users move on, eventually I will too.

Yep, this forum has been great and a fantastic community of mostly friendly people and staff. It has been very much a part of the Sonar experience for me. Forums for other DAWs don't seem to have anything on this.

I fully agree. This forum is a goldmine. It was also a major talking/selling point in a lot of articles I read discussing SONAR. You'll be hard pressed to find another software package with such an active, engaged community.

I'd like to see the forum archived for future reference and hosted elsewhere or made available for public to host elsewhere so that when it inevitably goes down, we'll still have access to the information without having to worry about reliability of something like waybackmachine.

There are other good forums, but this one is the most knowledgeable and fun. If they close this one down, there are already other sonar forums, this community will survive, and so will sonar 2017.10.

Agreed and it remains to be seen how long Plan B or Beyond Cakewalk remain even half as vibrant as this forum was just 3 short months ago.

If it's not going well for them, maybe they should rebrand themselves as Plan Becan and Beyond Becan ?

To lose all the accumulated knowledge here, not just about Sonar but for all the audio know-how here, would be a real travesty. Is there a way to preserve, what, 15 years of threads? Who would and legally could do  it? It gives me agita just thinking about it!
