I have owned more analog synths than I care to mention. I also have some of the best plugins around. The virtual instruments can do everything and I mean
everything sound wise that any hardware analog synth can do. Floor shaking and all. Check out companies like Uhe (Diva) for example and you will see what I mean.
It is OK to get a real analog synth but only if you want one. They have their issues too. They will start breaking down and parts are getting harder to get everyday. There are even some fantastic free VST's out there that sound earth shaking too.
That soundtrack you mentioned sounds orchestral or real. Sometimes orchestras can sound like the most amazing analog synth pads. But when they are doing that that is a very lush sound. Synths can do it though.
