I'm trying to record multiple vocal takes.  When Sonar tries to loop to record the second take it crashes.  I've captured a video of the crash using only a single audio track.

Please post back with the sample rate settings for both Sonar and for your interface.

They both must match, by the way.

I do not see any reason from your video why it would crash like that.

What driver version are you using for your interface?

Also, is your Windows up to current maintenance levels?

Sonar and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 are both 24bit 9600.  The driver is up to date.  My Windows clean install is a little over a month old.
I reinstalled the X2a patch and that didn't help.

I didn't have this problem with my Intel machine.  I now have a AMD FX-8320 Eight-core that sounds like a small vacuum cleaner. ;-)  The event list is over my head.  I've been using X1 and X2a since they came out.  I just started recording vocals with this machine and ran into this crash.  So I don't know if I had the crash with the clean install.

Couple of questions for you:

1.  Have you tried setting up a new project with just vocals?  The intent here would be to simplify the project to see if anything different happens.

2.  Are you patch current on Windows maintenance?

3.  Did you install Sonar running it as Administrator?

4.  Does the same thing happen if you try running it now as an administrator?  (That error code can be related to access permissions).

5.  Do you have anything like an antivirus program running while Sonar is also running?  If so, try temporarily stopping the antivirus software and trying again in Sonar, to see if that makes any difference.

6.  Did you rescan all plugins after installation of X2a?

It might be worth also considering a complete removal of Sonar X2a, followed by installing it again, making sure to first clean out all registry entries and roaming data and folders and such, as well as running the install as admin.

If you DO want to consider doing that, please indicate so in your reply and I will detail the steps to preserve your custom content as well as what other pieces to delete and all of that.

I have the 8-core too and have no issues with a crash. Does X1 crash when you try the recording in that?

It was recently suggested to me that I run the project in safe mode to determine if it is a plugin issue or not. Try safe mode and see if that helps. If safe mode works, reopen the project and isolate the plugs to see which one is causing you the grief.

Do you have your CWP and per projects audio files on a different drive, as recommended?
You should have a drive that is just for audio. If you do not, like i suspect, then you need to do this ASAP.

You C drive should be just for programs and sometimes people like another drive fro their samples, if you have allot of them.

The problem must be with the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 for some reason.  I hooked up my Line 6 UX2 and it works fine.  I never had a problem with my Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 on my Intel machine, and I've used it for about a year.

Thanks for the help.
