Hi Jon, Mike is correct, I have that boxed checked at all times. And I just tested it out - I can indeed play a project in X2 and a song in Windows Media Player simultaneously.
It actually made my tune sound better
I wasn't saying he was wrong, merely that people will have these things set up differently and for different purposes, so not everyone will be seeing the same things happen.
And yes you should be able to run a Windows Audio app along with one that's using the ASIO driver. Try getting two apps to use the same ASIO driver at the same time though...
That's usually enough to coerce the 'feck' sound from your lips.
Right...me as well. I too wasn't trying to imply Mike was wrong. He was just wrong for MY situation and if by chance Steve or anyone else may be running things like me, you'd definitely not be able to do this at the same time. :) That's my issue Jon...everything on my box uses ASIO so it can only be used once. Even if I have share driver...it won't work. It only takes a second for me to kill the Sonar audio engine though...so I'm cool with that. :) I have some other things that will NOT work right in Sonar when share drivers is checked...so that's another reason for it to be unchecked for me.
Steve, I'm just glad you fixed it. Yeah...those Windows updates man....after my loop issue I mentioned to you, I always do them one at a time now so if something doesn't quite work or acts weird after, I know which one it was.
Just remember, if you happen to have another Sonar issue...try completely un-installing it, deleting reg keys, folders etc (I know that sucks, but with that pc you have it won't take longer than 50 minutes) and then when you re-install, no hot fix. Install and then go right to X2a and see how you fair. And also...make sure you do the plugin reset and then total rescan of all plugs so plugin manager works correctly without any problems. Quite a few people don't do this and have issues with plugs. :)
