I'm putting a new system together to retire my Q6600 to family tasks. I ordered a few great deals off newegg and I have my i7 3770k, (2) 2TB Seagates and a BluRay Burner.

I went through my normal Anandtech and Tom's Hardware research and about the only thing I THINK I want is a Z77 chipset.  I don't think I need Dual-WiFi and 12 drives in RAID.

Is there any MOBO's that are favored up here for DAW use.  Do I want Z77?
Planning on USB interface.

Thanks!!

I am using Z77 with i5 processor and 16GB of ram, running extensive setups {vienna instruments, MIR convolution reverb, etc.} and everything works like charm...

Another Z77/Core i7 user here. Totally satisfied with the combo, although I opted for a smaller ITX-build.

Still something fishy with the graphics card/win 8 but what's happening is almost to minor to mention. Sometimes it blinks and notifies that the graphics card-driver has been reset.

Also, post this in the computer hardware section. Lot's of knowledge there.

Best Regards

I built a DAW last August -  i7 3770k & ASUS P8 Z77-V LE Plus. Works great, no issues.

  • I have an ASUS Sabretooth Z77 that I chose due to the iddy biddy fans that are built into it and the fact that it looks tough and cool (you can't beat a bit of tread plate ).
  • Grum.
  • Edit. I'm sure I defended the forum software in another thread the other day but I have no idea what it going on with this post!!!!!
