  • ** SOLVED (sort of) ** SONARPDR.exe suddenly and unexpectedly stopped working?! Excuse me?

Alright, so... I'm on Sonar x2 Producer all night last night, up until three 3am just editing frozen audio tracks. I close the program, I go to sleep, wake up, go to work, come home to start editing again and Sonar x2 won't load properly.
This is what happens, I click my Sonar x2 icon and all of the VSTs load up just fine, and instead of launching the program, SONARPDR.exe just sits there, doesn't open Sonar, and won't immediately close to an "end task" command.

I'm stumped, guys. I don't understand, ran a Google search and a lot of people seem to have had this program for other versions, but there were no real fixes.

I'd reinstall no problem, but I'm not gonna waste my time if that wont work.

Anyone have any ideas?

IS this happening only in the one project or is it happening with all projects.  If it is just this one you may need to open the project in "safe mode" to see which plugin is making trouble.

Have you tried rebooting?  Is there a chance that a Microsoft Update ran while you are sleeping?

None of that was the case. I just tried opening it and safe mode, it skipped scanning for VSTs and went right to the opening loading logo, where it froze after a few minutes. I think it may have something the ASIO4ALL driver, it seems to stop working when it loads I think. Hold on I'm gonna try uninstalling that, brb...

win 7...32 or 64 ?
are you running everything off of one 2 TB hard drive inclosure (internal)
its also possible you had a plug in not playing nice, maybe even the one you froze.
had any issues with that one...or was there one you haven't used before in this project ?

as glen said, go with safe mode.look for the offender

Nope.

Rebooted, clicked Sonar X2 icon, let VSTs load, they do, Sonar doesn't open, can't end task under task manager.

Rebooted, tried safe mode, VSTs skipped loading, froze on boot logo, unable to end task.

Uninstalled ASIO4ALL drivers, rebooted, repeated the first and second tries, nothing, unable to end tasks.

I'm going to try reinstalling I think.

Well, safe mode didn't work. Nothing has changed, no new programs or anything. It just decided to do this entirely out of the blue. I had made no changes or updated to my device from 3am that morning, to 13 hours later at 4pm that day.

Also, my gear list is dated, apologies. I'm running an internal 300GB boot drive with Win7 64x and all other programs, using an internal 1TB drive for media, and a 3TB external for backup.

I have an APC40 and MPK49 both plugged into a USB hub into one USB drive. I'm going to try disconnecting these and rebooting.

Alright. Unplugged both MIDI devices, opened in safe mode and it's fine. I also uninstalled the last VST I put on last week. Not sure what has to do with what, but it seems to be working now. I can't provide a solution because I'm not exactly sure how any of this is working now, or why it went wrong in the first place.

Maybe theres a pro that knows whats up and wants to help for future solutions.

some 32 bit plugs/vst-I can give you a hard time if your running sonar in a 64 bit atmosphere.
but lets hope a "PRO" can verify that,i mean who am I ?   :)

Well, I didn't have an 32bit plugins running, and when I do, I use JBridge and that usually makes everything straight, but thats unrelated.
