Hey guys. I remember seeing some stuff here a while ago about the NX plugin, but can't find anything now, of course.

Waves are offering a lot of their plugins for $99, less a $50 gift voucher, which is pretty good if you need anything.

The only one of interest to me at the moment is the NX headphone mixing plug. I've just bought a pair of Beyer DT 990 pro headphones. Absolutely blown away by how good they are, but a few people are telling me I need the above.

Any thoughts? Anyone else using it?  Be grateful if you could share your thoughts. Thanks. Dave.

Hey thanks Sent4th. every dollars helps !! No experience with the NX ? I see you have the Abbey Road. That's the same price, and was I interested in that as well. You happy with that ?

Sorry. Sometimes I need to convince myself to hand over the dollars lol!!

Dave,
The Abbey Road plugins are great. I've read several reviews on the NX and liked what I have read so far. I picked up the NX at everyplugin.com, I'll play around with it this weekend. I have not use all of the Mercury plugins, but so far I am not disappointed in the ones that I am using now.

After reading numerous reviews, and noting the almost deafening silence here, I've decided this would be just another plugin in my list of plugins, probably unused.

For anyone interested, really read into the reviews. It's great, but not great enough, and probably more useful for those on the move on laptops. Another good fact finding mission though, well worth a look!! For the right person, for the right circumstances, some of the software available for this type of simulation, including NX, is pretty amazing stuff.

Just thought I would leave my final thoughts.

After reading your first post, I have though "that can be really interesting in my case...".
Fortunately, Waves has 14 days full functional demo. Reviews and videos was nice. But all that make no big sense if the effect does not work with concrete head in concrete headphones (like in my case).

I was long time on-line shooters player and I have used "5.1" headset (with 3x2 speakers inside headphones). And I could "localize enemies" with great precision (the sound quality was very bad, so such solution is not for music). Other, with "virtual" systems based on normal headsets, normally had to "turn the head a bit" (since without tracking, virtual head inside the game) to achieve the same effect. I guess the tracking system for NX serve the same purpose, since without micro-movements the "space" is not perceived.

Most of us already have, and prefer, Sonarworks Headphone Reference Plugin.
So, that is probably why the silence...

Interesting response. As most of you already have, and prefer, the Sonarworks plugin, would anyone care to elaborate on why it's better ? Seems to me, they are very different animals, as is the VRM.
