@ Jimbo 88 The sweetwater list is pretty good but Cakewalk disagrees on changing the processor scheduling to background processes.

Only tweaks that you can use is ----> Power Schema and UAC off, the rest is just stupid and horrible tweaks by AVID.

I guess you don't agree then

Freddie never misses an opportunity to bash Avid/Pro Tools and anything Apple. Even after being busted, he just ignores it and picks up right where he left the next time. It wouldn't be that bad, but in order to get his point across, he must continuously post things which make him one of the biggest source of disinformation on these boards.

For exemple, in this case, what he is rambling about (disabling aero/themes) is not part of the optimization procedure but part of the troubleshooting steps.

I don't know where he got his link and it seems overly complicated to get to the actual info he is sharing. But anyone who wants the actual AVID procedure can just google "Avid PC Optimization" and will reach the actual page dedicated to exactly that - for Windows 7, there you go Freddie: http://avid.force.com/pkb...ng/en349411?popup=true

As for background tasks, I've read contradictory advices about this for as long as I've worked on a PC DAW.

@Rain

Only one with disinformation here is you.

It makes it just more clearer that you don't know what you talking about. You should keep using your MAC and LOGIC instead because you are on deep water here. Me being busted of what? I don't know what you referring too? I busted you being wrong again,...and again... maybe is that you referring too?

Sure, you can find thousands of bad XP tweaks suggest run on Windows 7/8 on the Internet, it doesn't mean they are right tweaks.

As for example  background tasks, no it should be set to PROGRAM on Windows VISTA, Windows 7 and 8. On XP yes. It was Matthias Carstens from RME that discovered this specific tweak on XP that the world has use and abused since that day. It was a workaround for RME audio cards on XP.

If you knew something about this you would know that  Matthias Carstens and on RME website also telling you exactly what I say, it shall be set to PROGRAMS on Windows 7 and 8. *Note that is coming form the man that invented the original tweak. Maybe he is wrong too?

You can always ask Microsoft or Noel on Cakewalk and every else that know something, they all will say what I been telling you all.

So I proved you wrong again...big time...

Over and out!

I have the best tweak! Don't use PRO TOOLS and you don't need to destroy and tweak your computer system!

I'm not arguing w/ you Freddie.

I gave that up a long time ago when I realized that you were still talking BS about iPhones because they weren't supporting Flash - over a year after Adobe abandoned it, and long after I had provided the links for you.  You never acknowledged.

And I kept on posting that link and others every time you brought that up. Because you kept on going.

I called you out on your BS about Logic at least once or twice. You never replied and/or changed topics.

In fact, this is one of the very first times that you even acknowledge a post where I call out your BS.

And sadly enough, all you have to say is : "You are wrong" and "I proved you wrong".

You referred to troubleshooting steps as optimization tips as I pointed out above, links included.

For example... Contrarily to what you wrote, AVID does NOT suggest turning Aero off EXCEPT for Troubleshooting Pro Tools. That's some BS you spoke right there.

That was what I was referring to as BS.
It is BS.
Either you misunderstood what AVID wrote, either you willingly misinterpreted it.
At any rate it is still BS.

Or it is not BS because I am stupid, that's it?

But you didn't answer to that, you just keep on rambling and attacking me about ONE element - which I never pretended to know anything about, just that there has been some conflicting articles about - and YOU call me stupid?

Name calling. Poor Freddie. Like you BS about Pro Tools, Logic, Apple and all the big claims you make - all empty words.

So no, I'm not really talking to you, I'm just setting the record straight in the form of a dialogue.

All I really tell you is that I respectfully but strongly suggest that you refrain from calling me stupid.

Why can't people say Apple sux I wonder.

I do agree that all DAWS lead to music and if you want a professional career you need to learn Pro Tools. You don't need to learn logic though. Or studio one. The Audio Post guys at Gearslutz think Logic is a joke. And Studio One is like Cubase 4.

It seems that Pro Tools, Samplitude and Nuendo are taken most seriously by the hard core guys.

People can say whatever they like. And the truth is, they often do - w/o much thought or any care for factual evidences. But still, they CAN say whatever they want.

They might get called out on their BS though - harsh but fair, no? ;)

For anyone who cares to verify it... I'll use big fonts for our friend.

Disable Desktop Composition
This troubleshooting step will disable Windows Aero and force the computer to run the Windows Basic theme while Pro Tools is running, reducing complex graphic processing during Pro Tools operation. This can help resolve pops and clicks during playback and record, as well as optimize the system further for use with Pro Tools.

This is generally only necessary with older graphics cards that do not support the Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM).
Right-click the Pro Tools icon on your desktop or Start menu. Choose Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab. Check the box that says ‘Disable desktop composition.’ Click Apply and then OK. Upon launching Pro Tools, you will get a notification at the bottom of your screen telling you that the graphics theme has changed. Click on that message and then check "Don't show this message" to prevent this message from popping up every time you launch Pro Tools.

I really sorry I wrote "stupid" and I took that away after 1 sec I posted my post and I edit my post along that I added other info.
I took that away because I felt too it was unnecessary and really "stupid"----> BY ME saying that.
Unfortunately you had already read my old post already

I hope my apologies are excepted?

Anyway RAIN.

At AVID website + the video I link too they say----------> Windows 7 Optimization guide meaning used on all common computers with PRO TOOLS and other DAWs. Not Troubleshooting guide. If it were a Troubleshooting guide, it doesn't make any sense adding tweaks and troubles to the system like background, disable AERO etc that are in conflict. Strange Troubleshooting guide ?

*Logic Pro
I have nothing bad to say about LOGIC. I'm one of the first users of LOGIC EMAGIC time. If you are on MAC that is the one DAW to use. Comparing to great and pioneers LOGIC was before its not the same as apple bought it. No progress no new things.

*Flash
Yes IPHONE it the only smart phone on the planet that it doesn't work on include IPAD.
Adobe has not stop developing or improving flash. Flashplayer 12 is out soon too even for phones, except Appelphones.
It APPLE own fault it doesn't work!

cant help but join in the fun on bashing the rotten half eaten fruit company....

"Apple sux"...

in the days of daisy chaining 7 SCSI devices together, i can tell you it is a nightmare still remembered... when the system fails, there is absolutely no recovery... absolutely none, all, then, years of work, sounds and sequences all lost... inspite of the initial exorbitant payment and to offer to pay for data recovery plus begging and tears, the clowns at the service centres had just one thing to say "i'm sorry, the situation is unfortunate...." (they being too proud to admit they have no clue how to solve the issue)

as for Flash and mobile devices, these clowns had the audacity to demand that Flash be excluded and unfortunately even (Google) Android, now, has to bow down for the sake of HTML5 conformity... years of development and industry using Flash wasted... frankly to complain about Flash being a security risk is a joke... interjection of Java Scripts is even worse... go figure!!!

looking at their power supply designs is even more absurd... a different plug for different devices...???? only mindless automatons would subscribe to their eco system... LOL!!!

ok... peace out... back to the music...
