Damn am I frustrated yo, I have an entirely different problem apparantly. Recording with Sonar has been a pain in the ass! Dropouts occur..I'm using Sonar 8 at this point. I have 7...Can record with 7 with dropouts still occuring but not as much with 8.
I guess this goes back to my soundcard? My Mic settings are all good...So maybe my PC is just overloaded? I don't see how...I only use it for music and occassional internet use. The dropouts are pissing me off though and i'm getting static pops. ITS GOT TO BE THE SC right? Realtek=garbage.
Since I want to do music so bad I basically recorded a dry verse using Audacity and then mixed it with Sonar. I can't really tell the difference in the vocals but then again i'm no master.
Sorry for the rant...Juss don't know what to do.

Well, we're in post #20 and you still haven't told us your computer specs, what driver mode you are using etc., so it's hard for us to guess if your PC might be overloaded or something. Try ASIO4ALL driver (free dl) if you already haven't.

As I mentioned earlier, don't get carried away by the effects in recording phase. Many VSTs are very CPU heavy, and something like Vocal Strip, not to mention Perfect Space, should only be used during mixing, when you can set the latency higher.

Unfortunately the integrated chips aren't very capable in DAW work, as mentioned.

Sorry,
I don't know crap about computers (but imma learn)...
Its a
Dell Windows Vista
model: Inspiron 518
Processor: Pentium
Memory: 4 GB
64 bit

I'm using the standard Realtek soundcard but it looks like that may be the problem, according to what I have read. Realtek soundcards just don't cut with this program, so i'll upgrade if necessary.
Driver mode....the profile i'm currently using is the MME mode....I also have WDM, and Asio at my disposal but the soundcard doesn't fully pick up all the info on the Asio mode, so that is why i'm going with MME mode.
It's obvious that i'm a beginner...but it seems like the soundcard is the problem.

The soundcard is the main problem for sure.
MME is the poorest of drivers. Try downloading and installing ASIO4ALL. It just might help. Integrated chips don't support real ASIO.
