  • WHY FIX THINGS THAT ARE NOT BROKEN?

Why do s'ware developers always have to change basic, functional features that have worked for 20 yrs, and just change them for the sake of changing them? ...AND WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM! My F5 doesn't work anymore, and there's nothing that I know of that took the place of what it does. Bouncing tracks doesn't work the way it's supposed to. I did it EXACTLY the way the freakin' instructions told me, and only ONE track would get bounced. I held down the Cntrl Key, and highlighted the 2 trks I wanted, then checked the mixing preset "What you hear", just like I used to do. BUT NOOO! Only 1 track bounces. Where is my Scrub button? OK, the free vids are fine, but I'd much rather have a VERY detailed text instruction (with screenshots of course) that show us exactly how to get the most out of FX, and Instruments. If you're REALLY going to make a generational change, give me the following AS STND FEATURES...NOT just for Producer: True Noise Reduction like Audition, or Samplitude If you're not going to give us new, and improved FX, and instruments, at least give us new presets, and/or some new samples for the OLD stuff. IS THAT SOO UNREASONABLE? KC

So did you have a question?

Why fix things that are not broken? To offer something that's "new and improved!" so you'll buy the same product over and over. Why did Cakewalk hide the interleave button? Why did Microsoft take away the File, Edit and View menus from Word and Excel? Why do they force desktop users to see a UI designed for tablets in Win 8? Why is each version of Kontakt incompatible with every previous version? To give you a reason to buy the same product one more time.

Fortunately, we do get a few genuine improvements along with the gratuitous shuffling of buttons.

Now be a good consumer and stop complaining! The economy is depending on you.

Why upgrade, if you don't want any changes?

I think upgrades are fun in a sense, but I do get nervous about what's changed that I won't like. Feedback is valuable, but (good) Surveys are useful, too. For example, Cakewalk should send out a survey to ask what people like/don't like about Take Lanes. I do hope Cakewalk peruses these forums more often than I suspect, but I hope they realize that there's a lot more users out there than just us. Some of them like new features, and some of them don't. I think I've seen maybe one very basic survey from Cakewalk in the past, but it had nothing to do with specific features.

Plus, if/when Cakewalk upgrades the forum, maybe add a section that includes a Like/Don't Like button on features within Sonar. I don't believe Cakewalk knows what the real customer-base wants/doesn't want. I don't really ever see that feedback request. Studio owners who go through training aren't always the best resources to tap for that. Newbies are valuable, too.

On a lighter note: I recall seeing a band called King Conga years ago in Huntsville, AL. They were really good live. I think the bassist had a Warwick Thumb bass like I did.

BRConflict, Thanks for your VERY gracious, and HELPFUL commentary on some VERY reasonable, empathetic, albeit frustrated, issues/questions in an otherwise atmosphere of UNhelpful, useless "comedians". KC
