Hey all,

Released a single today, https://smaltmine.bandcamp.com/track/intent

Tried to take into account some of the criticisms I've gotten here in the past, was especially trying to bring depth and width to this mix...still Smalt Mine though.  Enjoy, thoughts welcome and appreciated.

Wow, that is some unique, weird, and somewhat unsettling music.  However, it's well produced, and has an interesting quirkiness to it.  Are all the voices your own, with various effects to change the timbre?

Thanks poguester!

Walt, yeah, voices are all mine - I tried something new here, recording the vocals in different keys, depending on where it felt comfortable or desirably uncomfortable, and used the Sonar transpose to change the key of the vocals (recorded to the bass-synth (z3ta 2) line, so I could just drag that up and down the piano roll).  I only used a formant control on that low vocal - one of the high screams (with the laugh) was recorded at project pitch.

Used a similar process with the guitar (that really dreamy thing that sounds synthy).

I think this is all CW synths - z3ta 2 and Dimension - and mostly Valhalla, DDMF and FabFilter plugs.

Awesome, and very creative use of FX.  You've given me some new ideas to try in future compositions.  Thanks for sharing!

I also listened to some of the other stuff on your various bandcamp pages... really creative... and very scary.  You are a master at recording guitars and vocals, and ambient noises.  Your production work is beyond innovative.

I'm pretty sure you don't intend for listeners to "get" your meanings lyrically, but the shadows they cast are ominous enough.

This is about as original as it gets. I like that voice you came up with. The whole thing is full of mindbending stuff that I think speaks volumes about your creativity...and the mix is pretty good too :)

Walt, Tim, I really appreciate the kind words.  I have high standards for the stuff I release, but don't get a ton of feedback generally so I really do feel the encouragement.  This is already one of my most popular songs bandcamp-play-wise, which kind of surprised me but is awesome.
