I would say L3 if you aren't making anything similar to hiphop and L3LL if you're making LOW bass for those bass heavy genres. You could use L3 for hip hop of course but to my ears the first was more pleasant for most material. I didn't use a subwoofer for this listen so I only heard the bass through my regular studio monitors and I'm sure this makes a huge difference.
The nice thing about those really low frequencies is that they either will or won't be present depending on the system playing it back. The bad thing is that if they aren't seperated correctly it will translate as a muddy sound.  I would always make the bass to sit in all systems somewhat.

Hmm as i thought myself L3LL, seemed to give a better punch in the bass
atleast when not pushed to hard, but have harder character in the mid and high's.
While the L3 seemed to have a more "floating / less undefined bass"
but better in the mid and hi range !

But then again after trying some more.....i start to get unsure
that's why it is good to have more people to give their opinion..
