Hi is this normal, and I have been trying to change this in Preferences and everywhere else but no luck.

So for example in Drums programming, the Kick should be C2, but Sonar registers as C3.

Is that because of my midi controller?

Thanks guys.

It's because there's no real standard. The setting you are looking for is in Preferences--->Customisation------>Display-----Base Octave for pitches.

That's it.
I put it as -1. And everything is good now.
Why would that feature is so embedded in Customization and Display like that?
Thanks a million FBB.

You may check your keyboard output with a separate utility like MidiOx. If it also shows A5 then it's your keyboard that's off, not SONAR. It may matter to you later if using other software.

Thank you Losguy.  But on any keyboard, it has been the same. And
I have been with CW since the mini floppy disk days.

I appreciate all the help you guys've all given.

And following FBB, it is wll swell now.

Thanks again.

As I understand it there is no "right" or "wrong" it's just that different manufacturers use different reference points when naming octave numbers against MIDI notes. Hence the setting.
