I have read and seen X2 working in WIN 8 with multi touch support.  Does anyone know if X2 also supports touch for WIN7? I imagine it would be as robust as it is with Win8 but does it go beyond the standard WIN 7 OS touch support?

My issue is that my external hardware doesn't have WIN 8 drivers yet but I wanted to dabble with a touch screen for the CONSOLE VIEW during projects on a second monitor.

Thanks in advance for any info you may be able to provide.

Jim,

In Win 7, with X2a, touch emulates the mouse drag and click, but does it badly on faders.
You can toggle some buttons (record, mute, solo, etc) and move/resize windows.

But fader touch is not responsive, or if you manage to move it, the movement is accelerated - a small movement will cause the fader to travel to the extreme max or min.  This has been the case since X1 in Win 7.

And my (test) Dell is now outdated (Win 8 upgrade diagnostic mentioned it as single touch). For any multi touch support, make sure you're on Win 8 with a real multi touch screen (10 point touch..?).

Well, I have some gift certificates to Best Buy and was looking at a new MULTI TOUCH ACER monitor in preparation of migrating to WIN 8, once hardware support is there for the UAD stuff (Apollo and PCIe card).

Sounds like at least mixing on the touch monitor isn't too good in WIN 7? I wonder if that is a function of your DELL montior or inherent in WIN 7?

Thanks for the info,
Jim

I think it's Sonar specific.

I tested it with Reaper and the default Windows volume control - both responded great to touch movement - to be sure, I just fired up Reaper to confirm touch is working well with Reaper faders in Win 7.

So, I suppose the current Multi touch monitors would be ok to buy in advanced.

Tom,

Well, I got the ACER monitor (it is very nice).  Took me a few minutes to configure it for touch in WIN 7... and yes, you are correct, faders JUMP instead of slide in SONAR (too bad) but like I said, I am in a good position when WIN 8 drivers come out for the UAD lineup. Thanks for the info saved me a ton of time thinking I might have configured the touch incorrectly.
