  • Removing gaps between audio clips

I've recorded a long string of sound effects all in one audio take. I've then clipped all of the parts I didn't need (silence, bad sound effects, microphone pops, etc.) and now I have a long series of short audio clips. I'd like to be able to select the whole track and remove the spaces between the audio clips so that they are easier to work with. There are some tools that look like they'd work (Remove Silence..., Delete Hole), but they haven't been doing what I hoped they would. Does anyone have insight on how to make this work?

Not sure I fully understand what you want.

Do you mean you want your currently separated clips all to abut onto the end of the previous one?

bounce to clip

Bristol has it correct. I realize that there are manual ways to do that, but when there's 100 or so gaps between the clips, I figured I'd ask about a faster, more automated way.

yes remove silence will work. you need to check the box/split clips.
read up on it a little bit right here:

if not you can split them but it is painstaking, but use your S button on the keyboard to split the clips.
that will save time.

rabeach has it right. Select all the clips you want glued together, Right Click and choose Bounce to Clip. It'll turn all those segments into one long clip.

Nah, he means he wants to go from this:

To this:

I don't think there's any easy way to do this other than slicing & dragging . even more so if all the clips are of different lengths

hmm... Do you want the events to stay where they are in the timeline or move closer together like Jonesey posted?
