Hi, Bob. I'm just not really doing much recording right now but am about to do some general cleanup/maintenance on the system. Knowing my luck I'd install the a patch then b will get released. lol Just trying to save some time if possible. Cheers.

If the past is any indication you'll need to install X2a before X2b anyways.

Noel was on a thread just yesterday. That tells me there's a release just around the corner.

Well, I hope they take some time until the release X2b (pls don't hit me!!) but from the emails I receive from the problem reporter I get the impression that a lot of the control surface issues are being looked at now and I hope some of the fixes make it into X2b ...

True enough. I probably won't get an answer anyway but figured it was worth a shot. ;-)

Beepster - I still think I would go ahead and install X2a now - it is really quite stable for many, many folks.

And, as long as you save off any user content you created prior to uninstall of X2a to go back to X2, it's really no big deal to clean out the registry and folder remnants from X2a and install a nice new copy.  Less than an hour.

The benefits of X2a would be in the large number of fixes and enhancements they made.  It's really nice.

AND I PROMISE, if you want to undo an X2a install to go back to X2, I will give you y cell number and have you call me whenever you want and I will work through the whole process for you over the phone - no problem.

Same here.  Please take as much time as you need to get X2b to be the phenomenal, world-class, ass-kicking DAW it very nearly is in X2a.  After that, enhancements, sure, but only at no expense to rock solid stability, intrinsic functions, and interoperability.  That philosophy will win DAW market share more than anything else...  IMHO.  Please, please, please test at great length and recruit whatever beta testers you can to achieve the most solid Sonar release ever.  My 2p...

P.S. - Also got a control surface message today from Cakewalk for a ticket  about LED meters in the Mackie Control protocol (an old ticket from 8.5.3), but the LED meters are working beautifully in X2a.

I just got a message a few days ago about a problem I reported a few months ago. Then a day later a note that they are unable to reproduce. Sigh. I replied telling them I was not surprised as my recipe involved lots of small clips and slip edits over as many as 6-8 take lanes and lots of time starting and stopping playback while editing takes and soloing using the mute solo tool. oh well I just built a new computer perhaps I will not see the problem anymore.

I just received confirmation yesterday of a CWBRN bug report I submitted a while ago as 'Fixed'.  So I guess they're still busy polishing things, which is good.  Let's be patient, I'm sure something will be along.  Meanwhile, it's still a great DAW and I love using it every day.

Yeah... I've received a number of confirmations and the likes (submitted to development) in the last week... so Im guessing that they've gone thru these issues and are preparing to release an update (X2b?).... At least I like to think of it that way as I'm so in need of an update.... Unless they haven't fixed/changed Lanes enuf for any real difference here as that is still my biggest problem with X2a.... Lane issues...

So, here's hoping for the best! (and that my electricity is still on long enuf to realize it ;-))
