I bought 8.5 quite awhile ago and have had no need to use it for some time as I have X2 which I almost use exclusively.

  I recently met a friend who has 8.5 and we are thinking of making a few recordings. The computer I once had 8.5 in has long since been retired but I still have a download link with numbers on the Cakewalk website. I decided to download 8.5 into another computer for use with my friends files. 

 I was able to make a download of the file ok, but when I try to load 8.5 I am told that my computer doesn't have the credentials to let me download the software. I am not even asked for any numbers.

 How do I get 8.5 into the computer? Thanks for any help.

You need to talk to support for issue like this. I'm sure they will have the record of your purchase and issue the serial number and registration code. 

This is why I always buy the disks. Downloaded software is a PITA.

Amen to that. Or, at the very least, make a backup after downloading!


I'd just borrow the friend's installation disks.
