I just purchased X2 and have a session tomorrow. I've been a Sonar user since Cakewalk version 1 and have lots of hours using it. I was wondering if I can have both of them installed on my PC at the same time. I'm hesitant to have only X2 installed when I need to get some work done right away. I'd like to have some time to get used to the new interface. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

John

There are no problems having multiple versions of Sonar installed on the same machine.

When you DO install X2, make sure you also apply the X2a update.

Also, you will gain absolutely NOTHING by removing 8.5.3 even after you've installed X2 and it's running ok for you.

Leave it installed and forget about it

It's going to take some time to get accustomed to X2 (from v8.53)... so I'd leave it installed.
If you switch mid-session... it'll slow things down to a crawl.
As has been mentioned, there's no harm in leaving 8.53 installed...
You can always uninstall 8.53 in the future

very important to save your old projects from 8.5 with a new name if your going to open them in x2a
because if you don't you will be saving it as a 8.5 project as an x2a project and if something fails because of a compatibility issue, bye bye project.

here's something to catch you up to date a little bit:

even though this is transitioning from x1 its still helpful.
