Anger feels good temporarily, but is ultimately wasted energy. You don't hurt the target of your anger, only yourself.

Admittedly, my mellow outlook could be the result of gobbling Oxycodone for the past two days due to back pain. Band practice was a kick last night; every song became a blues number to me. Had my bandmates cracking up because I'm usually not the one forgetting arrangements.

Seems like time for a you tube video rant about burglars in your town and how the police have video of the criminals, know where some of the stuff is, and are not interested in stopping future crimes by arresting the perpetrators.

For those that are interested in boycotting GC, they also have the websites of musiciansfriend.com and music123.com along with guitarcenter.com

...

I had a screenplay stolen, and those folks will never see the light of the day on it. Why? They are not me, and the best they can do is steal a thread or two that they have no idea what it is about.

I lost that fight, because I did not have and could not afford lawyers!

I'm not angry per se. I know the secret to creativity, and it comes from the heart, not from the hands of thieves that might get 5 minutes out of it, because they have nothing to continue or replace it with when it's all said and done. But many other folks, and agents are aware of those folks stealing, so, in my book, they are doomed with a bad product.

All in all, I came from a fascist state, and seeing this, is pathetic and sad, for me. This is Portugal and Spain all over again, for 50 years each, dude!

And this is supposed to be America, and they can chase it down, and they don't? AND on top of it GC doesn't care? Where is Trump when we need him? (<<-- LOLOL)

I didn't mention it, but the initial reason I went looking for contact information for GC's big honchos was that I don't see much impact from just boycotting GC if the people in charge don't know that you are or why.

So my initial thinking was we might want to write polite but pointed emails (in my view this sort of communication is more effective if you want to actually change something vs. just vent) describing why we are unable to support GC anymore.

I sort of had second thoughts in that if we write emails to the president of GC (and his email address at GC is in the document I linked above - along with all of his other contact info) he might intervene and just give Dave his gear back - which we don't want at this point.

UPDATE 7/21/16

After being told the case was closed weeks ago, imagine my surprise when today I received a phone call from the assigned detective, telling me that they've recovered much of my gear (two amps and two keyboards). Says it's in lockup at the local police station and I can go pick it up.

Should be great news, right?

Not so much. I now have redundant equipment and will have to reimburse the insurance company to the tune of about $6,000. I'll sell the gear to cut my losses, but will likely get only about $2500 for it.

Furthermore, they were unable to locate and interview the suspects so there's still no confirmation as to whether it was my next-door neighbors who pulled of the heist.

One small plus is that I now have a somewhat more favorable view of my local police department than I did a month ago.

"More favorable?"  Didn't they have all they needed to go after the suspects?  Without them you can sue them in Civil court to get the difference in what you get from insurance and what things really cost you.  Plus, I didn't read that they found the main thing(s) of importance to you: Your data.

Um, does your insurance know anything was recovered? Sell the old, keep the new.

My presumption is that the police will likely notify my insurance company of the recovery. Even worse, I can't claim ignorance because I've already asked my insurance co. what will happen if I recover the gear. Answer: I have to pay them back for the insurance payout.
