There isn't much I can say. Reading over this thread I would only pile on. I do know when I was in basic training in the army our drill Sargent made a point of saying in the army the most despised group were thieves. At the time I didn't know why they were so Loathsome. After years of having things stolen I now know why.
I do feel for you Dave. I wish it had never happened.
I've been quite lucky in that the only valuable thing I've ever had stolen has been a bicycle. But it was a nice one, a Claud Butler, and it was my only way of getting around at the time. I locked it up outside a friend's house, went inside, had a couple of glasses of wine and a few J's, came bouncing outside all merry and joyful and the sight of the empty space where my bike had been was just a horrible, horrible feeling. You feel so violated and helpless. Didn't help that I had to walk almost 8 miles home that night, seething with rage at the thought of someone else parking their dirty thieving backside on it. Yep, I don't care what the "background" of the culprit is, a thief is a thief is a thief and they're all scum.
