This reminds me of the time I almost bought a boxed set of every episode of Prisoner Cell Block H on DVD for $1000.

And then I came down off the crack.

I loved that show James

I even have a book about the series, and a 'best moments' DVD ....

There, I said it. Now there can be absolutely no doubting what a sad individual I really am

You need to open up the double LP "Dance of the Lemmings" ... and take a good look!

You'll never use this one poster again!

Hey thanks Pedro, that's brilliant! I'll use it every time now.

That's the back cover ... not the inside of the LP. I did say "open up" as the inside cartoon is magnificently weird and fun!

Btw, according to one of them, that line that is added as a quote ... is really screwed up. It wouldn't appreciate a good thing if it ... oh well ... took some good acid and had a good trip! It's all a bad trip when you have no idea what it is, right?

Simply one of the most entertaining TV dramas ever. Low budget, cheap sets, often awful acting, and yet it still managed to grip my attention week after week. I loved the way it went from lighthearted japes to someone being dragged into the bathroom and hung in the space of 30 seconds. And what about The Freak! Pulling on her black leather gloves as she said "Tut tut Smith, I won't allow this insubordination" - ulp! And who could forget Lizzie Birdsworth: "*cough wheeze*....cor Mrs. M *cough wheeze*....it's me TICKA!"

And to think I only started watching it because I had a HUGE crush on Peta Toppano - the ONE AND ONLY good looking woman in the whole show! Absolutely essential watching when it was shown in the late 80's and early 90's in the UK - we used to come home from the pub early to catch it, it was that good!

I wonder if that's the same DVD I have...does it have the infamous riot episodes on it? The one where Mouse got caught in the fire and ran down the corridor burning alive? Epic drama!

By the way, did you know there was a biography of Sheila Florance (Lizzie)? I've always been in two minds whether to read it. By all accounts she was an amazing character in real life https://www.amazon.com/Sh...rtineau/dp/1514497077/

And the episode list:

And the book:

Did you know they've done a reboot James? It's called Wentworth Prison and is a modern take on the original:

It's quite good

Ha my boxed set has exactly the same episodes except it has different packaging and it's called the "25th Anniversary Collectors Edition." I was walking past a discount DVD store on 14th St here in Manhattan and I caught sight of it in a bargain bin they'd put out on the street. You don't expect to see PCBH for sale in New York so I had to buy it.

Every episode has been on YouTube for years, right here: https://www.youtube.com/user/GueenBea/playlists

Fun (but weird) fact: the actress who played Mouse once tried to friend me on Facebook. I only use FB for friends and family so I ignored it, however it was intriguing to wonder how that came about.

I haven't seen the new Wentworth, to be honest I have a feeling that I would be disappointed because by the looks of things it has good production, and that to me is enough to make it feel like "just another TV show." The cheapness of the original was kind of its charm, a bit like the original Star Trek I guess!
