The most popular album is, by far, Dark Side of the Moon but the Wall was pretty well known too (especially since they made a movie for it).  Although there are some very good songs on these, I find I'm tired of them and play them the least.  The albums prior to DSOTM (especially the first ones) are all excellent examples of 60's psychedelica with folksy pop tunes.  Meddle (two prior to DSOTM) has some great atmospheric songs and not as vocal pop.  Wish You Were Here comes right after DSOTM and shows them taking synths and progressive themes to a new level.  Animals is almost a wonderful side oddity in my opinion.  I'm also a fan of Division Bell.

There's some definite evolution (as with most good bands) but, for the most part, if you like one or two of their albums, you probably will like most or all of them.  My least favorite songs are of the spoken word variety, though most are there to tell some part of an overall story.

I am very fond of Pink Floyd's pre-DSOTM stuff - one of the first albums I ever owned as a kid was "Relics" (I made my mother buy it for me purely on the strength of the album artwork) and the songs on it just blew me away. It's a good compilation of some of their psychedelic stuff. It's worth it just for See Emily Play, a fantastic song.

Even better ... get the album "A Nice Pair" as it has a really good collection of things. Too bad you can't get the LP with all the piccies and fun stuff! In its first sending off, it also had a poster.

The first Floyd album I gave serious listening to was Ummagumma

Used to listen to all 4 sides back to back, multiple times.

I guess that's why (one reason) I'm a little peculiar

Peculiar is the new normal.
(At least around here anyway.)

Hey folks, thanks for all the great recommendations.  I will investigate them all.  I do like the PF, but I just never had it in my collection.  I did listen to WYWH over the youtube last night.  It kind of inspired me.  I need to check out that "See Emily Play" tune.

Thanks again, I feel as if I may veer just a bit in another direction now.

David Bowie recorded a cracking version of See Emily Play as well.
