Are you kidding?  Without those it would still be filled with day-to-day TMI!  For example:
 
"Had a great dump this morning!  Good thing too since we're going away on vacation for two weeks and it will make the long drive easier.  'Ol 123 Main Street will just have to be a lonely house until we get back.  At least our cousin was able to take the dog in this time.  We'll post hourly selfies so you'll feel your with us on the trip!"
