  • X2: I'm afraid to ask but what should I expect with take lanes or whatever they're called? (p.2)

Yes, you can have lanes open on multiple tracks. You can also open/close lanes on multiple tracks quickly... just select the tracks and then Ctrl+click on the Take Lanes button of one of the selected tracks.

I must be doing something wrong. I was able to select two tracks and then ctrl+click the Take Lanes button and only one lane will expand into lanes. I would like to be able to expand 10 tracks of drums into lanes so I can edit. Is that possible? I could do it with the old system although there was a huge amount of futzing around to mute and solo takes.

You have auto view on,  option is found in view header at top of track view

Yep, as Freex said, in the Track view choose View > Auto Track Zoom from the Track view menu to disable that option. Then the multiple lanes should display.

I have been unable to get used to take lanes.
My main issue is the simple fact of viewing the active take when folding the track to only see the parent. The parent always shows take 1. Always. If I'm applying some automation to a track, I don't want to be looking at a muted take. This is regardless of the order in which take lanes are stacked. Is there something I'm missing? If I can figure this out then I'm fine with them for now.
