  • Sliding Tracks in Folders

I'm have a question with sliding tracks to the beginning of the session, when they exist in separate Folders. For example, I have a session that has the following Folders:

Drums
Guitars
Bass
Vocals

If I want to delete about 5-10 seconds off the front/beginning of ALL tracks in all folders at once (which mostly works fine) and then scoot the tracks to the beginning of the session to take up that deleted space, is there a way I can do this for all tracks? I can't seem to do this with all tracks if they are in folders, but I can easily do this if they are not, or I can slide them one folder at a time. I just don't want to take them all out of folders, slide them, then put them back into folders, if possible. This issue is what I just mentioned, but includes the caveat that obviously, the tracks all need to line up perfectly.

Thanks.

I think you can by highlighting all the folders which will highlight all the tracks but all the folders have to be opens to be able to grap what you want to remove. maybe someone has a better way.

Ctrl + A selects everything, all tracks, irrespective of which folder they're in

Can't you use Delete Special - delete hole, instead of sliding the tracks?

Right and right, but I can't move them once all folders and/or tracks (Ctrl+A) are all selected. It's like they're frozen, even though, they're not.

Even if you range select, choose "Delete Special" from the "Edit" menu, and make sure "Delete Hole" is checked?

If any clip has a starting point of 01:01:000 then you won't be able to slide them to the left as there's nowhere to go.

jb101's solution is the one i would expect to work 100% of the time - unless you have any locked clips anywhere - that could get a little funky!

Unfortunately, it only works if done when deleting the content preceeding the start of the audio, but not after the audio is deleted. One would think it should be easy enough to simply Ctrl+A, left-click on the audio or whatnot at a point where you get the "Move" cursor, and it should move all of the audio to the left or to the right. The Cakewalk editor has never been what I would call intuitive.

Forgive me if I'm missing the point, but you originally said "I want to delete about 5-10 seconds off the front/beginning of ALL tracks in all folders at once"

The solution that'd been outlined does exactly this - there's no need for you to have to slide the tracks for yourself - it's all done for you.

Sorry, I did say that originally. That was assuming the easy way would eclipse any obscure method to exist. I figured if the way that I would assume would be possible really wasn't, there couldn't have been a "designed" way to do it.

Ok, so let's say I've got clips that don't extend all the way to the start, but those need to be moved as well as the ones where I deleted the first 5-10 seconds. I'll have to try and see if this method would still work.

Just odd that simply sliding the tracks was not possible in this case.

Thanks!
