I have MIDI drum track that has a tempo map embedded in it. (created in another DAW)

If I open the MIDI file in Pro Tools it will read the tempo map and insert the tempo changes in the correct places.

I can't seem to get Sonar X2a to do this. Is it possible?

Thanks.

I always do File>Open in Sonar, for midi files, rather than an import of midi.

How are you opening the midi file in Sonar?

I have downloaded midi files from some progressive rock groups, and these midi files have all kinds of meter changes in them, and Sonar always opens them just fine for me.

I will double-check right now, in case Xa does something different than X1 or X2.  (It has been a while since I did open a meter-changing midi file in Sonar, although I record midi all the time in odd-meters with no issues).

Anyways, look for another post in a little bit.  I just took some pain meds, and I want to let them kick in prior to my trying to sit at the desk for any length of time.

Yeah, that should work better for you.

You can add the TTS-1 synth and everything should then play back - TTS-1 is like a nicer sounding multi-timbral general midi synth.

Please post back with results.

Thanks,

That did it.

If I Import the MIDI file the tempo map doesn't come with it. If I Open the MIDI file it seems that it does.
Thanks!
