Nice job Herb. Great playing all around and your singing really complements the style of the song.

Classic Hacker. I understand how mom and pop felt, sometimes I feel like my Johnson can't compete anymore either...

I like all the little fills throughout the track, they keep the added interest. Good stuff

Thanks to all you guys for listening.... yeah, this was one of those things that is hitting really close to home.... many of my customer base is this kind of business, so when one of them shutters the doors, it affects me as well..... The two examples I gave up top really got me thinking and this song was the result.

I like to keep the music interesting...little fills, as Gus mentioned....and as Optimus points out, the arrangement is critical....I always try to make the song sound like a band would be playing the parts and the fills and the instrumentation....... I enjoy the production end of this as much as I enjoy the writing and the recording....

This song satisfies on several levels.... to me personally.

Again....thanks Wildman, Mark, Optimus, Dan, Robby and Gus,,,,, and everyone else too, for listening and commenting......

Lots of folks must be listening......

Well done, Herb! Great mix. Guitars are great as usual, the fiddle and mandolin are wonderful decorations, but this one's also got a very nice piano going on in there. Did you play the piano yourself? If so, it's pretty tasty for a git-picker.

Nice lyrics and I can really see the imagery. Very nice singing and acoustic playing.
Some nit: I can hear a touch of harmonic distortion on this.  Almost like tube saturation is a tad hot or something like that.
I really like the song.  Great job.

Rimshot.... You have good ears....  I did use Boost11 in the vox bus. That could very well be what you heard.  It added just a bit of nastiness to the vox.

The story, the message, the melody – that’s what matters most to me. A lot of what I hear these days is short on these elements - this tune has them all. You‘ve put it all right there up front – this is a changing world. You shine a little light on this. It’s a bit sad and you express this using the microcosm of a small town, but it applies at a much more expansive level. Nice job. Good tune.

Excuse my edit - sometimes I don't realize how things can come across on the net.
