Well...read again your opening post.
You did not tell you are using an Akai hardware drum pad. You talked about "clicking a key or a drum", which understandably made me/us assume you're clicking the drums or virtual keys on the GUI with your mouse. Neither did you tell anything about your routing etc., GS wavetable... We are not mind readers, we only know what you precisely tell us about what you're doing.

What are you using the GS Wavetable synth for? Please try to focus and give a clear picture of how your in/out settings are per track and project etc.

I agree with kale, the more info and clear as you can possibly be will be helpful, I read you first couple posts thinking, "that's impossible" then it appeared you snapped and started getting upset.
as I read on it appeared you were doing something different.

please keep in mind , we are not paid technicians, we are people taking precious time out of our schedules to help you solve your problem.

best regaurds,

I had lost connection with my akai a few hours ago I was touching the pads and they weren't doing anything. I unplugged and replugged my cable back in and unchecked Microsoft gs. Now im able to trigger sounds with my mpd and see the console mixer levels going up and down and hear sounds but nothing records.

I tried to record session drummer sounds by clicking my mouse over the kick drum and also by pressing pads on my mpd yet nothing is picked up.

Ok don't ask me how but I looked under prefrences midi and devices and I selected akai mpd as the output and akai mpd as the input and it appears that now sonar is picking up the midi data I just was able to record a few notes I played live.

Thanks for trying to understand me anyways I think I got it fixed idk why but I believe I tried checking off mpd for the input and it dident work but now it is.

wait there is still some kind of a problem. It appears that im able to play live but how do I just record a preset drum beat

Do I have to set the output differently In the console??? Before I could play the drum loop and record it. Now im only able to record what im playing live it seems???

so why ask me if im trying to record midi when you know session drummer is midi and that's the track that wont output data.

The reason I asked is because in your OP you said..........

I don't know what happened but all of the sudden im not able to record session drummer or cw soundcenter as soon as I click on a key or a drum in drummer I hear the sound and see the level on console etc but when I click record I hear metronome and nothing I press gets recorded.

You mentioned hearing it but not being able to record it. Not being a mind reader I was trying to establish what you were expecting to record.

Good luck..........

Yea but none of those mentioned are audio tracks. Don't you know that soundcenter and session drummer are both midi. No guess work about it

I dident mention anywhere that I was having a problem recording audio tracks I simply mentioned that I was trying to record vst plugins that are obviously midi.

You don't have to be a rocket scientist to add a vst and play it sonar creates the track for you to record.

You sound like your almost implying that sonar doesn't know its butt from its elbow.

When you load a sample sonar creates an audio track on its own usually audio for a plugin usually midi withy sonar you don't even have to figure out what type of track your recording it does it for you.

So even if your a newbie to recording sonar does the work for you

A lot of people come here asking how to record a VSTi to wav. The answer is bounce to track or freeze. You were very unclear in your original post as to what you wanted to do. Being able to communicate with common terminology will greatly aid in getting help here. I do not know what you mean by this.

I here you but why is it that I can now record the drums if I play them on the controller but however I cannot record the prerecorded drum loops session drummer has anymore.

I pick hiphop kit and load it hit loop and press record I here the drums playing but yet they aren't being pickup. However I can atleast play them live. what am I doing wrong now do I have to set my soundcard to stereo mix or something stupid

I think I know what is happening here.  I'm more familar with EZDrummer but I bet it's the same.  You are effectively previewing the loop within the VST (EZD/SD or whatever) but you are not triggering midi information at this time.

To *record* those loops you need to record the midi trigger information.  In EZD you either trigger that with key note presses which you record, or you drag the midi file directly onto the track.  I actually seem to remember struggling with the Sonar SD VST in exactly the same way - couldn't figure out how to record those midi loops.

Try editing the PRV directly and adding some midi note information in there for the VST track.  I'll wager that will trigger for you.
