I have one system with a core 2 quad 6600.  Another with a core 2 duo 6300.
Will either of these run Sonar x2?  I know have to upgrade form xp to win 7

I'm running Win7 x64 on a Q9300 (2.5 GHz) with 8GB RAM, and X2 runs just fine.    I'm sure a new i7 system would blow performance out the window compared to what I have, but I really have no issues with my system as is it.

Oh... and I'm using a Focusrite 18i6 which is solid on this platform.

I have a Core 2 Quad with 8GB of RAM and it works fine. Make sure you have plenty of RAM and install Windows 8 (or 7) 64-bit. Also, you can't upgrade in place from Windows XP to Windows 7 or 8 so you will have to backup, format your drive, and reinstall everything.

Sop is your processor the same as mine?  yeah I was aware of the need to backu and format.  thanks
I wonder if I am out of luck on my older core2 duo 6300.
I wanted to take advantage of an offer I got in the mail to upgrade to sonar producer x2.  but then I noticed that they dont support xp  so double whammy perhaps triple (if i need new cpu)  new op sys, sonar x2,  maybe new computer.
right now I am using both those systems with sonar 8.3.  one is at my studio and one at home.  nice to be able to work two places but if my core 2 duo wont work that means I need a new home system too, or bring the studio one home.  oh well I am thinking out loud.  sorry.
   thanks for you input!

I ran X1 on a E6600 which is the dual core version. It worked fine for me and X2 isn't AFAIK any more "Power hungry" so I don't see why not.
