Funny, but after downloading Essentials and now X2, I find that I miss having a copy of the THICK manual in hand...the SONAR videos are nice, but no substitute for nuts and bolts understanding in a comprehensive, textbooklike way and having instant reference onhand and not having to flip screens, get distracted by finding the exact point in a video for some info you're looking for,etc,etc,etc....is there a possibility for those of use who downloaded X2 to get a hard copy of the full manual? Do these even exist anymore? lol

No, as far as I know, it no longer exists. But the SONAR X2 Power! book does...

Nothing like a good old manual to hold in your hands. Scott have you an index of topics covered in your new book?

Sonar still comes with a manual. Its a softcopy in PDF format. Its 1,956 pages. That's way too big to lug around. Just download it to your iPad or Smartphone and its good to go.

Hi John,

SONAR X2 Power! covers the entire application and also includes all the changes and new features in X2 and is up-to-date for the X2a update. In addition, it includes all the changes and new features that were added in all the SONAR X1 updates... X1a, X1b, X1c, X1d, and X1 Expanded.

Thanks!

You need the Sonar X2 reference guide - here http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/kb/reader.aspx/2007013290  all 35mb of it. Like it or not the move to electronic documentation has kept the cost down. Apart from cost and easier searching, electronic documentation also has the advantage of being easier to keep up to date. Its not uncommon to see "Obsolete once printed" on electronic documentation, with good reason. But having said that does anyone know if the reference guide has been updated for X2a?

I, for one, am looking forward to it.  The SONAR Reference guide does cover everything, but Scott's books have a real "human" quality to them.  And, they feel great in your hands :-)

One advantage of the printed manual was that every noob realised that "this is the manual, this is what one should read before turning to other people". And its massive size gave you an immediate hint that this is a software that requires some studying. I rememnber how impressed I was when I got it in my hand for the first time.

It seems to me there are more and more beginners popping in who really have no idea about studying by yourself and looking for information and solutions, but just wait to be spoonfed. You answer them "Do Bounce-to-tracks" and they answer "How do I do it?" instead of looking in the help files. IMO, too easy answers are not a service to the person. We should more often say: Check Help Files or Reference Guide.

I wonder if the existence of the Reference Guide is made known enough? It should be made so visible no-one can miss it.
