the bass player for Megadeth isn't exactly the first person I'd think of if I were looking for advice on a DAW

No, you'd go straight to the oracle: Alan Parsons.

If I were to do that, I'd be much likely to consider the opinion of someone who's also got solid technical knowledge, like Charlie Clouser, formerly of NIN.

That guy obviously knows his stuff, seems to have similar requirements as I have AND I enjoy his work.

I don't even know what that means but found it really funny for some reason.

I guess oracle is hell or something. Lol.

@Rain
It's very subjective cause to me Depeche Mode I think mechanical, grid vsti boring.

In regards to Alan Parson - that was in reference to a giveaway where the winner would receive $5000 to spend on stuff for their home studio, and that prize was presented by Parson, who would assist the winner picking up gear that would improve his home studio.

At one point, Parson mentioned that RAM was everything, and it didn't really look as if he knew what he was actually talking about.

In regards to Depeche Mode, I was referring to the fact that, considering their knowledge of synths, samplers and sequencers, they're likely to know more about DAW software and computers than a guy playing bass in a metal band.

I could be wrong of course, maybe Elefson is a total computer geek and has messed w/ sequencers for 20 years. But, let's just say that, it's not as likely for him to be well-versed into that stuff as a bunch guys who made a career using electronic instruments.

Regardless of the music.

Imo this is an image question :

No  DAW - Sequencer is bug-free.
The user  and community  orientated update "politic"
of Cakewalk  ,which involve the user.community
much more then every other of these Daw builder´s in
the development of sonar and this in public ( forum aso....)
is strong conjunction building .
Afaik this is the history of Sonar,it is very user based development
and so most versions need some updates, to work stable.

This in public conducted  discussion is in this very
competitive DAW market a flaw cause it can be used by other companies.

Often I heard the sentence ,after asked the question which DAW I use and
replied Sonar :
Sonar? Sonar is very buggy!

So, here in Germany it´s very hard to have a  recording studio and
not using PT or Q-base, cause musicians are still sceptical .

One think I forget to mention:
Sonar is the best DAW  for me!

I'm really really bummed because I was using Cakewalk by twelve tone 20 years ago at university and now, getting back into the music side of things and the software architecture of both vsts and adaptive modules for reactor and kontakt I've had to abandon sonar as a testing environment completely.  it has a lot of potential but what I am building right now simply will not work unless they nail the midi problems down.

Howdy - swamptooh - can you please elaborate on your midi woes as a new thread?  I'd like an opportunity to see if there is anything there that could be resolved.

Thanks,

Bob Bone

I know what your saying Rain. And agree. But at the ame time I think there's a lot of people who would think "Megadeath uses Sonar. Sweet! I'm gonna use Sonar." and don't really care about the technology side of things.

Like for me it would be the Who bassist.

Yes,The Who...wow
Specially John Entwistle was a beast on bass,
but he died in 2002.
Dont know which sonar version was relevant that time,

too long ago, or?
