Has anyone seen the versions of Presonus' Studio One available?
Apparently "Pro" is better than "Producer"...

In regards to Alan Parson - that was in reference to a giveaway where the winner would receive $5000 to spend on stuff for their home studio, and that prize was presented by Parson, who would assist the winner picking up gear that would improve his home studio.  

At one point, Parson mentioned that RAM was everything, and it didn't really look as if he knew what he was actually talking about.

In regards to Depeche Mode, I was referring to the fact that, considering their knowledge of synths, samplers and sequencers, they're likely to know more about DAW software and computers than a guy playing bass in a metal band. 

I could be wrong of course, maybe Elefson is a total computer geek and has messed w/ sequencers for 20 years. But, let's just say that, it's not as likely for him to be well-versed into that stuff as a bunch guys who made a career using electronic instruments.

I know what your saying Rain. And agree. But at the ame time I think there's a lot of people who would think "Megadeath uses Sonar. Sweet! I'm gonna use Sonar." and don't really care about the technology side of things. 



Like for me it would be the Who bassist.

I'm really really bummed because I was using Cakewalk by twelve tone 20 years ago at university and now, getting back into the music side of things and the software architecture of both vsts and adaptive modules for reactor and kontakt I've had to abandon sonar as a testing environment completely.  it has a lot of potential but what I am building right now simply will not work unless they nail the midi problems down. 

Howdy - swamptooh - can you please elaborate on your midi woes as a new thread?  I'd like an opportunity to see if there is anything there that could be resolved.

It's kinda funny because I've been using studio one as well, and this one was hilarious:


in sonar, via the media browser, navigate to the dimension pro multisamples folder
from there go to 21 - vocals
then open the jacyn riffs folder
then click on any riffs1-005.flac
wait...
wait some more...
wait even more...


now, follow the same steps in studio one (or cubase) and see what happens...

I guess converting them to WAV would work, though a pain.  

I did take a look at those first few vocal flac files and the only thing that MAYBE (and I am grasping here) is partial access to standard users, while admins have full access.  Is your user account an admin?  (again, grasping here).
Have you contacted Cakewalk tech support on this?  I saw your other thread from back in October on this, if I have the date right in my head.

Perhaps they have a solution for you?

My guess is that the media browser can't read flac files.

So why'd they change some parts to flac anyway ? Save space ?

i just got a great e-mail from bub about this.  classic.  all the flac files i've tried (made by sonar) in studio one and cubase work perfectly well.  and in sonar... white screens and crashes and track icons that play sounds if you click them enough times.
