• SONAR
  • Sample Rate x Bit Depth x 2 = kbps?

Greetings All, Working on a mix last night with a client (figures), I copied the UAD LA2A plugin from one FX bin to
another track's FX bin in Sonar X2PE. When I did, I got this error message: "The requested sample rate 88200 did not match the other plugins. The expected sample rate is 44100. For optimal performance, the sample rate should be the same for all UAD Powered Plugins that are running simultaneously." Every track of this project was recorded at 88.2k/24-bit.
(At least, that's where I have it set in Sonar X2PE.)

The project's sample rate & bit depth shown under the counter (in the transport) says it's 88.2kHz, 24-bit.
(Rendering is set to 32-bit.)

This is the first time I've encountered this, having recorded most songs, of late, at 88.2kHz, 24-bit, with

rendering at 32-bit.

...or so I thought.

Using Windows Explorer, I opened the project's audio folder.

Lo-and-behold, the kbps of the project's audio files include kbps values of 5644, 4233, 2822, and 2116 kbps!!

If the equation of:

Sample Rate x Bit Depth x 2 (stereo) = kbps
is true...
... then why all the different kbps values in the project audio folder??

Shouldn't those all be 5644kbps?
(88200 x 32 x 2)

What am I missing?

I'm looking for a way to look at each track's recorded sample rate, but it's proving to be
a study in audio sampling mathematics!

Thank you kindly for any and all replies. Cheers & Good Health, MG

Update:

I can transfer a track (in this case - the bass guitar) to iZotope's RX2 Advanced, and it tells me that it is indeed 88.2kHz, 32-bit float.

So I'm in need of an explanation, just so I have a better grasp of how the bit rate is calculated...

Any mathematics wizzes out there wish to 'splain it to me?!

A big thanks to anyone with a chalkboard (and who's not afraid to use it).

Cheers,
MG

AAAAARRRRG!!

Mono vs. Stereo.

Stereo =
88200 x 32 x 2

Mono =
88200 x 32 x 1

I need more coffee...
'seems I got a few brain cells not firin' on all cylinders today...

I'm leaving this thread up just in case anyone else is feeling the call to have fun with math...
