I start every project the same way, I have to open the preference menu change:

1-the metronome from 0 beats to 4 beat intro
2-record: from  layering to overwrite

and a few other things.
is there a way to edit my AUD.INI file so every time I start a project these global changes are already where I want them ?

Do you use a common template?  If so, edit the template and overwrite it in the template folder.  I deleted all but two or three templates to cut down on the mess, but I've edited all of them to use the same settings you want and a few others as well.

I could do that, I had thought about that, its only those 2 or 3 things id like to change.
thought it would easier to change that one file than make a template.

thank you for the feedback  :)

Yeah, but it's still easier to pull up the template with your changes, than it is to make the changes over and over again.  Making a new template is just saving the way you have it set up so you can pull it up for new projects.

Start with whatever base template you want, make your changes, then do a File>Save As and change the type to template and navigate to the project templates folder, which by default would be in Cakewalk Content/Sonar X2 Producer/Project Templates.

It's a super quick thing to do.

Sounds like exactly what you would want.

thanks bob:)

there's a file that can be edited in notebook (or any text editor) that will tell sonar to open every new project with these default settings.
I cant remember which one it is ?

but that might not even have those options so I guess I might be creating a template  :)

The time i've spent wasting on asking, I could have already made one

Template is the way to go Charlie. If it's the one you use every time just save over top of your "normal" template. There are a couple of ini files where settings can be changed/added but I don't think the two you mentioned are amongst them. They can also be accessed from preferences.
