Yes.

I'd say it marginal at best. 2GB is not enough to do very much. So yes it will work, but not very well.

I think Windows 7 will present a bigger problem than SONAR X2! There's not much left of your 2 gigs when W7 is running. The program itself doesn't seem to have gotten much more resource demanding over the last several versions, so assuming you're not expecting to run lots of CPU-hungry plugins and big sample libraries, you might be fine!

thanks a lot guys, you've helped me out. I will probably upgrade my RAM to 4GB and give the whole thing a shot.

i'd be careful because if you have any probs and need to get in touch with tech support they may pull the old "your system doesn't meet our minimum standards, so we can't help you" routine

I don't think I would invest any more in that computer. For one thing it probably takes DDR or DDR2 RAM which is more expensive than DDR3 and if you decided later to upgrade to a newer computer, the DDR or DDR2 memory would be useless.

Well, i wouldn't have to buy the RAM anyways, since i get it from someone for free.. but the upgrade from win xp to win 7 would cost 30€ or so. On the other hand a new computer would cost me waay more.. but it would be worth it of course. At the moment I'm still running SONAR LE, which kinda works for me - but it's simply too inefficient in it's workflow and stuff. Yeah - sooner or later it will be SONAR X2 i guess. Anyway - thanks for the kind advice, it really helps.

If you can get RAM for free, load that machine up with as much as will fit. After all, Alan Parsons did tell us that "RAM is everything!" :)
